The Kite Runner
by Khaled Hosseini
Nige related the book to his own experiences of Afghanistan in 1976 - “Afghanistan’s next to last summer of peace and anonymity”.
The others would probably not have read this book ordinarily but found it very interesting on the culture and people of the country.
The themes of loyalty, betrayal and redemption were discussed along with the difficult relationships between siblings and fathers and sons.
The themes of hypocrisy and the abuse of power were also discussed and related to other situations.
All enjoyed the book.
