Everybody agreed that this was a wonderful book which would definitely warrant a second reading.

The epic scope and scale of the story both in terms of geography and time were impressive as was the main character’s endurance, fortitude and determination not to give up. We felt that we would like to know more about the historical context but the book certainly helped our understanding of the two cultures - a moving, beautiful and profoundly human story.
