A good start to 2008 with the best attended book club so far.

By the time of Daphne’s arrival we had all agreed that we had enjoyed the book appreciating the local settings and the well-rounded characters. Daphne told us that the book dealt with the themes of captivity and freedom and was also about fear and facing up to it – which she related to her own experience. Daphne then read the part where Lyn and Eddie go to Spurn – but stopped short of the sex!

Most of us related in some way to places and incidents in the book and the wide-ranging discussion included Daphne’s current project about a female soldier from a pacifist Quaker family who finds herself in Iraq. I am sure we will all be eager to read this when published.
