Fried Green Tomatoes

Everyone loved this book. It was “absolutely brilliant”, “wonderful” and “glorious”.

It was a beautifully told story with many strands and a structure which drew the reader in and sewed the seeds of curiosity to see how events worked out. It dealt with the issues of racism, sexism, sexuality and so on but with a light touch. It recorded a changing historical context where dreadful things happened but through it all shone the humanity and kindness of the principal characters. There were some very moving incidents and just about all the characters (with the exception of Frank Bennett) had a sympathetic side to them.

We all found this a joy to read.
