Notes to my Mother-in-Law
by Phyllida Law.
There were no claims for this book as a great work of literature but most of us enjoyed it to a degree.
It is undoubtedly a slight work – to some of us unsatisfyingly so – others appreciated its humour and humanity.
There were some doubts expressed as to the alleged provenance of the work which Sue, with her intimate acquaintance with the author, was able to allay.
The book provides a picture of everyday life in a loving family environment and provoked affectionate reminiscences of our own – resonances which will sadly soon be lost with the passing of time.
