Rendezvous with Rama
by Arthur C Clarke.

Some hard-core science fiction fans loved it. Of those not of the SF persuasion some enjoyed it whilst not understanding the “science” element. Others remained resolutely unconvinced.

Those who loved the book praised the brilliant story – a genuine page-turner with a magnificent ending and spooky, thought-provoking and mysterious elements and some genuine humour. Most agreed that the book was not strong on characterization – possibly the only real character being the “tin can” itself. The vast strangeness of Rama pursuing its course with no regard for small human intrusions was interestingly described.

It was certainly easy to read but for some of us it was a bit thin and ultimately unsatisfying.
