Book Number 20 in the
Discworld
series, featuring Death, Susan Sto Helit, The Wizards.
Everybody – with one exception (guess who) – loved this book.
They declared it “hilariously funny” and the writing was “fabulous”.
It was “screamingly funny”, silly but also perceptive.
Terry Pratchett’s rich imagination was praised and parallels drawn with events in the “real” world.
Even its admirers though made no claims for it as a great work of literature – it was just a good story.
Still there were moves to award the book our coveted 5-star rating usually reserved for profound literary works or books about Afghanistan.
But common sense prevailed and our Hogswatch special was awarded a generous four stars.
