Robert was the fourth child and second son of Robert Cross and Elizabeth Colley.

1902: Robert married Sarah Elizabeth Hood.
1902: Charles Hood Cross was born in Flamborough.
1903: Charles Hood Cross died in Patrington (district).

1911: UK census:
Robert and Sarah were living at Ravenspurr, North Marine Road, Flamborough. They reported 8 years of marriage and one child who had died in infancy. Robert was a self employed Fisherman, aged 35, whilst Sarah was aged 33.

1918: Vera Cross was born in Patrington (district).
1923: The City of Bradford Lifeboat Crew were visited by HRH The Prince of Wales, see photograph.
