WORLD FAIR TRADE DAY 2006
Fairtrade Football Match
Pearson Park, Saturday 13th May 2006, World Fair Trade Day.
Sponsors: Hull City Council and Hull One World Shop (Fairtrade City).
Teams: Dads Against Drugs vs Scratch team including ethnic minorities.
Fair Trade Content:
Sports balls, Fairtrade Tea, Coffee, Cookies, orange Juice, Apple Juice, Tropical Juice.
Fair Trade Football display, plus signing of red cards for NEWS Campaign against Child labour.
Weather: Steady drizzle turning into persistent rain.
Nearly Ready:
Match: Played 20 minutes each way with a Global Allstar ball inscribed “Education for all” in 10 languages.
Kick Off:
Kick off was performed by Martin Budd, Hull City Council,
and Richard Duffy-Howard also Hull City Council.
Play continued in good nature in spite of the inclement weather conditions through out.
The Spectators, though few in number and rather damp, were good natured and enthusiastic throughout.
Half time: Dads: 1: Scratch Team: 0
Result: Dads: 2: Scratch Team: 1.
The trophy and match ball went to the captain of the winning side.
