Autumn Tales

November 2016 - "Autumn Tales"

Eight story tellers entertained an audience of two in Lydia's Cakeaway.

Autumn Tales

Autumn Tales

The theme proved to be a story telling challenge, and the connection between the theme and some of the stories was tenuous to say the least. But we know a lot more about larks, ghosts, evil eyeballs, the truth, the wrath of God, demanding frogs, and the nature of the rabbit.

Elaine

Gave us a dark tale of negotiations leading to rabbit's vegetarianism and the man staying in the moon. Sizzling snowballs.

Peddley Steve

Taught us the origins of singing with the larks. The prize for the quickest, longest and sweetest song was not revealed.

Frances

Keeping mum in spite of the ghostly noises is a way of protecting children but not the spouse. True story.

Holly

Told of the Ghanaian inspiration behind her writing and exhibitions. "If war came here, where would you go?"

Cath

Told us an "evil eye" story from Poland. The father "got it", the baby survived.

Peter

Finding Truth in the mountains can lead to living with a paradox.

Steve

Short change in the market place in Devizes can lead to a blue plaque owing to the wrath of God! Another true story.

Julie C

Three daughters, one well and an amorous, demanding (roast beef and Yorkshire pudding) frog. Happy ending.

Jokes

3,000 under the hypnotist, "Oh sh.."
Is there anybody there? "Yes my son".
"Sod it, missed the b.....".
